WHAT WE DO
Four ways we look after your eyes.
Eye examinations
A full sight test in one of two ground-floor consulting rooms, NHS or private. We keep time for the conversation, your vision, your headaches, the family history, not just the prescription. Diabetic and childrens eye health included.
OCT retinal scan
Optical coherence tomography photographs the layers at the back of the eye in cross section. We keep the scan on file and compare it year on year, so change shows up earlier than a torch-and-lens look would ever catch.
Contact lenses and myopia
Daily disposables, silicone hydrogel, gas-permeable and specialist fits. For children we fit MiSight 1 day lenses, worn to slow short-sightedness as it develops. Trials before you commit, taught at the bench.
Spectacles and dispensing
Designer frames, childrens frames and prescription sunglasses, dispensed in person, not down a website. One-hour glazing on many single-vision lenses, so a straightforward pair can be ready the same afternoon.
AN INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Independent. The same optician, year after year, on Newgate Street.
C4 Sightcare is an independent group of optometrists and dispensing opticians in the North-East, with practices in Newcastle and here in Morpeth. Being independent is the point: we set our own clinical time, we choose the frames we stock, and you tend to see the same faces each visit.
The Morpeth practice opened at 65 Newgate Street in 2014, at the top of the town opposite St James Church. Two ground-floor consulting rooms, ramp access from reception, NHS and private tests under one roof.
“We would rather give you the time to look properly than rush you through.”

FAQ
Questions we are asked at the desk.
Do you do NHS eye tests, and how do I know if I qualify?
Yes. We provide NHS sight tests as well as private examinations. If you are under 16, over 60, on certain benefits or have a condition such as diabetes or glaucoma in the family, you are likely entitled to an NHS test. Ring the practice on 01670 518 612 and we will check before you come in.
Is the practice accessible if I use a wheelchair or a walking frame?
Yes. Both consulting rooms are on the ground floor and there are ramps available from reception. If you would like us to have one ready when you arrive, mention it when you book.
Can you see my child, and what is myopia management?
We see children and offer paediatric eyecare. Myopia management means fitting MiSight 1 day soft contact lenses that a child wears in the day to slow short-sightedness from getting worse as they grow. We will talk you through whether it suits your child at the examination.
What is the OCT scan and do I need one?
OCT is a quick, comfortable scan that photographs the layers at the back of your eye in cross section. We keep it on file and compare it at your next visit, which means we can spot change earlier. We will recommend it where it adds something, not as a matter of course.
How quickly can I get my glasses, and where do I park?
Many single-vision prescriptions can be glazed in the practice within the hour. More complex lenses take a little longer and we will give you a date at the counter. For parking, St James Church car park is directly opposite us at the top of Newgate Street.
